At the MedTel Open MRI Centre, which is conveniently located in comfortable modern premises on the Cardiff Gate Business Park, we operate an Open MRI scanner. This was the first Centre in Wales to introduce the patient friendly Open Scanner in 2001. During this period we have carried out a wide variety of scans to date, including Neurology, Neurosurgery, Orthopaedics, Rheumatology and ENT. As well as offering a friendly, first class service it is suitable for patients with most clinical requirements. We are pleased to accept referrals from all qualified clinicians and are well recognised locally with Consultants, GP's, Physiotherapists, Osteopaths and Chiropractors for the quality of our Imaging Services and very prompt provision of patient appointments and reports.

Benefits of Cardiff's Open MRI scanner  

• Provides a comfortable environment for the patient. The Open MRI scanner has the ability to accommodate patients who previously have been unable to be scanned using conventional tube style scanners. This specifically applies to larger patients and those who are claustrophobic.
  
• The non-threatening and non-claustrophobic experience of Open MRI makes it ideally suited to all types of patient, including anxious, claustrophobic or larger patients, and children. 
  
• The Scanner is" open" with no enclosed tunnels as shown in the picture below, so patients can comfortably see their surroundings while the scan is in progress.
  
• Detailed scans produced by a specialist Radiographer covering all areas of expertise. 
  
• Targeted 24 hour report turnaround provided to all Referring Clinicians
